LATE - YASHODHARA S. SHETTY
A group of broad minded people who hailed from Karnataka believed that education is very important for the overall development of a person. For the benefit of Tulu, Kannada people, they established an organization called as Navodaya Kannada Seva Sangha in 1969 under the able leadership of Late Shri Yashodhara Shetty. Sangha was set up in a rented room in Kisan Nagar located in the middle of Mulund and Thane.
Our members, have not only founded the Kannada Sangha but also have educational value. They believe that institutions must serve everyone like a banyan tree. Finding that, with a small book repository Late. Yashodhara K. Shetty. Hon. General Secretary K.S. Bangera, Hon. General Treasurer Shrinivas G. Anchan and all it’s members established Primary School, called Navodaya Primary School in 1970 to provide good education to our society. The members have carried legacy forward till today with establishment of junior college a few years back.
The Sangha has obtained Miniority Certificate and 80G Certificate. Sangha has kept alive the main motto, Low cost, qualitative and quantitative education. The same has been achieved without availing any benefits from the government. The idea is still being carried forward with the same zeal and enthusiasm till today.
Navodaya Kannada Seva Sangha’s main aim is to provide education to all those who come under the canopy of Navodaya. Sometimes due to personal financial crisis some parents give up their ward’s education as they cannot afford to bear the expenses. So sangha tries to identify the students who face financial difficulties and provide them help through Students’ Welfare Fund by paying their fees. Around 50- 60 students benifited by this fund every year.
Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.

If we teach today as we taught yesterday we rob our children of tomorrow- JOHN DEWEY
Education is a key which opens many doors. It has always been an instrument for the social, political and economical transformation in a society. From 3 decades, we have been witnessing the phenomenal advancement and growth of technology in the educational field, but what we have recently experienced in these two years of PANDEMIC period will always be testimonial time to the educational institution. It revolutionized the teaching – learning process in the classrooms & another places of learning, and it was not exceptional to NAVODAYA ENGLISH HIGH SCHOOL & JUNIOR COLLEGE.
In these two years we realised that technology in education has benefitted the EDUCATORS and the LEARNERS. According to the survey conducted by Educators, there was a dispelling myths about the technology and 21st century skills – Teachers and Trainers who used technology frequently to support learning in their classrooms, has fostered greater benefits to the students learning engagement & skill from technology. To add to this JENNY ARIEDGE rightly stated ‘Technology can become WINGS that will allow the educational world to fly further and faster than ever before – if we will allow it.’
Every act of acquiring learning requires the interest & willingness to learn by the learners. Researchers are trying to see if technology & school education influence children’s interest, cognitive & social skills in early childhood development.
We as educators have to constantly change our thinking and teaching method, as per the need of the society because we are the builders of tomorrow. What happens in classroom, vitally will reflect in the society we live in. The use of technology has not harshly changed the way we think, but we have accessed to extraordinary amount of ideas and information within our convenient time. So we have to use it in a better and wider aspect to benefit our students.
While handling the technology it is the duty of the educator & parents to create awareness among their children to self-control the habit of holding passion, prejudice and falling prey to the evil tendencies of using internet, in a wrongful way.
NAVODAYA ENGLISH HIGH SCHOOL & JUNIOR COLLEGE, believes in imparting quality education to its students. Technology has helped to bridge the gap and improve the classroom environment in a better way. It has become an integral part of imparting education to our students. We believe that every student should be empowered with education to make them ready to face the challenges of life efficiently. We also believe that technology cannot replace the Educators, as Bill Gates states ’Technology is just a tool in terms of getting the kids working together & motivating them, where the teacher is the most important factor in the child’s life.
We strongly believe that education is a collaborative effort that involves professional administrator committed teachers & motivated students. We dedicate ourselves as professional administrator in creating a dynamic educational program empowering the students in global perspective. Here at Navodaya, students are given national & international platform to showcase their talents and many students do participate and bring laurel to school and for themselves.
To conclude Navodaya School is a proud mission driven community providing a world class education celebrating the fact that each student is different, as a person & as a learner. We foster a positive spirit & believe in partnership between students, parents, teachers & support staff striving to create a milieu that sustains excellence at Navodaya.
You are always a student, never a master. You have to keep moving forward.
