Navodaya English High School & Junior College, Thane, celebrated its 56th Annual Sports Meet 2025–26 with great enthusiasm and vibrant participation at B. G. Patil Manoranjan Maidan, Mulund (West).The Headmistress of the Institution, Dr. Latha Murali, formally welcomed and addressed the gathering, setting an inspiring tone for the day’s celebrations.
The event commenced with the National Anthem, State Song, and the Flag Hoisting Ceremony led by the Hon. President of Navodaya Kannada Seva Sangha and Chairman of Navodaya English High School & Junior College, Shri Dayanand Shetty.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the Torch Lighting Ritual, symbolizing courage, integrity, and the spirit of sportsmanship. The torch was carried by outstanding sportspersons from Classes V to XII, and the cauldron was lit by the Guest of Honour, Hon. General Secretary of Navodaya Kannada Seva Sangha and Administrator of Navodaya English High School & Junior College, Shri Shashidhar Shetty.
The Sports Captain, Miss Astha Singh, then administered the Sports Oath, affirming fairness, discipline, and commitment.
A smart and spectacular March Past by all four houses—Agni, Vayu, Jal, and Prithvi—accompanied by the school band troupe, added colour, precision, and grandeur to the occasion. This was followed by impressive displays including Rhythmic Drill, Lezim, and Creative Formations depicting themes such as Blooming Star, India’s Cricket Achievements, Operation Sindhoor, Indian Economy & Challenges, and a vibrant Mahakaal.
Students of Std. IX and X presented a combined demonstration of Yoga, Human Pyramid, Gymnastics, and Mallakhamb, showcasing strength, balance, flexibility, and teamwork, which delighted the entire audience.
Hon. President Shri Dayanand Shetty addressed the gathering and officially declared the Annual Sports Meet Open. To mark the inauguration, colourful balloons representing the four houses were released, symbolising unity, aspirations, and the soaring dreams of young athletes.

The day progressed into a variety of track and field events, where students participated with enthusiasm, determination, and exemplary sportsmanship. Events included sprints, relays, shot put, kabaddi, cricket, dodge ball, and the thrilling Tug of War, each reflecting strength, coordination, teamwork, and discipline. Fun races and colourful drills by younger students added a touch joy and vibrancy to the celebration.

The Sports Meet also featured lively and engaging competitions for parents, teachers, and management members, including the 100-metre race, Potato Race, Spoon-and-Marble Race, and Shot Put, creating a cheerful and spirited atmosphere that extended beyond student participation.
Winners were felicitated with medals, trophies, and certificates, while dignitaries applauded the efforts of students, staff, and sports instructors. A vibrant victory march by the champions added to the festive spirit of the day.
“As a part of the closing ceremony, the Honorary General Treasurer of Navodaya Kannada Seva Sangha, Shri Sunil Shetty Sir, was invited to ceremonially hand over the torch to the current champions Mst.Ayush Kamble and Miss Astha Singh, and extinguish the flame, signifying the successful conclusion of our Sports Meet.”
“The event concluded with the Lowering of the School Flag and a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, teachers, volunteers, parents, and supporters. The unfurled flag that waved high throughout the day stood as a symbol of unity, spirit, integrity, and perseverance. The 56th Annual Sports Meet truly reflected the school’s commitment to holistic development and left the entire Navodaya community inspired and motivated.
